What was the most difficult part about planning this lesson?

MicroTeach Directions and Expectations For Online Course This course requires that you perform 2 microteaches in order to meet the objectives. Usually, thee microteaches are performed in front of your peers and then a recording is presented, and feedback is given from your instructor as well as your peers. This presents a few challenges for online learning, so a revised format has been developed to provide you with this experience. IT WILL FEEL STRANGE! But there are many aspects of this process we can still take advantage of in an online modality.

Microteach #1

 Must be a Zoom recording in “speaker view,” using PPT or Google docs to present lesson (you will be submitting a zoom link recording to Canvas).

 Use a children’s book/poem/textbook excerpt as the reading content of your lesson plan.

 Lesson cannot be more than 8 minutes but not less than 5. Do not take time in your recorded teaching time to read the book/poem/text. Refer to them as needed, assuming your students have read the information in a previous lesson. Your recording should include the introduction, set, explicit instruction (I do), Guided Instruction (we do), and the directions for the independent work (you do). You do not have to mention accommodations or assessment in the recording.

 Use a teacher-centered approach for this lesson (chapter 5)  Use the lesson plan template provided by the instructor and complete ALL

sections.  Choose a subject area (math, reading/ELA, science, etc.)

o Lesson plan must include the code of the Florida B.E.S.T Standards been taught in your lesson.

 Include a lesson set that motivates and sparks student interest in your lesson topic.  Includes a stimulus variation to be observed, YOU choose one and indicate it on

the lesson plan: o Verbal Focusing o Pausing o Change Speech Patterns o Gestures o Movement

 Must include a targeted learning style in the explanation of the activity. Will your lesson target visual, auditory, tactile, etc. learners?

 The activity of your lesson must include four activities/questions covering the 4 levels of Webb’s Depth of Knowledge, sequentially ordered, and labeled.

 Include SPECIFIC developmentally appropriate accommodations for student in ELL (English Language Learners) and ESE (Exceptional Student Education).

o What was the most difficult part about planning this lesson? o What are your plans for MicroTeach #2? What will you do again? What

will you change (in your planning)? o *Note: The verbal reflection will not be part of your 5-8 minute lesson.

 Upload and post your Zoom recording to the indicated discussion link. Watch and react to at least 2 classmate’s recordings.

 After you receive feedback from your instructor AND at least 2 classmates, complete the Reflective Practitioner portion of the assignment immediately following your completed lesson plan and submit.

 Upload your completed lesson plan template, containing your Zoom recording link, to Canvas.

Microteach #2

Microteach #2 will have many of the same requirements as #1 with the following differences:

 You must use the same children’s book/poem/textbook excerpt as the reading content of your lesson plan for both microteaches.

 Choose a DIFFERENT subject area for this lesson.  Use a student-centered approach for this lesson (chapter 6)  You must submit an entirely new lesson plan for this microteach.  The Reflective Practitioner portion is NOT REQUIRED for microteach #2.  IN YOUR RECORDING: At the conclusion of your lesson, you must include a

VERBAL reflection about the microteach process of your lesson. Answer the following questions:

o What did you learn about teaching and leaning through the microteach experience?

o What will you take away and use as a future teacher? o *Note: The verbal reflection will not be part of your 5-8 minute lesson.
