In 2012, a total of $3.6 billion was returned to the investors. In 2014, a total $9.8 billion was recovered after Trustee Irving Picard announced acquisition of additional funds to pay the victims. By 2016, $11.1 billion out of the total $17.5 billion worth of investments had been recovered by the federal government.
