There are several types of manual therapies available. For this assignment, you will visit or call at least 2 establishments that offer different types of massage, (you probably don\’t have to do this and can just do research on 3 different techniques) chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, or pressure point therapy. Select 3 different types of manual treatments, and answer the following questions:
What is the name of the treatment?
What is the treatment used for?
What is the clinical goal of this treatment?
What are the contraindications and side effects? (You will have to research this on your own using the library and other complementary and alternative medicine [CAM] resources.)
Are there any conventional treatments that this manual healing method may interact with?
What is the price of the treatment? How many sessions are recommended? Compare the prices between the 2 different locations, and include both of them in your write-up. Did you discover any differences? Explain.
What education would you need to provide the patient with about this therapy?
What education level and credentials does the practitioner have who is offering the treatment?
Summarize what you learned from this exercise in 2–3 pages, excluding the title and reference pages

Name of the Treatment
This paper will look at three types of manual treatment namely chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, and acupressure therapy.
Use of the Treatment
Chiropractic treatment is a manual therapy that is used to facilitate the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mechanical disorders that affect the musculoskeletal system. Acupuncture is a treatment model which entails the penetration of the skin with thin and solid metallic needles which are activated by either electricity or the practitioner’s hand. Acupressure applies targeted pressure on the affected joints of the body.
Clinical Goal of these Treatments
The clinical goal of acupressure is to trigger the pressure points and facilitate the release and relief of pain. Acupuncture entails the insertion of needles at various points and depths to relieve pain. The goal of chiropractic treatment is to improve spinal motion as well as improve body function.
Contraindications and Side Effects?
The side effects of pressure point therapy include pain and numbness on the injection site, lightheadedness, bleeding, and discoloration of the skin area around the injection site. Chiropractic treatment side effects range from discomfort in the area of treatment, the pain of the treatment site, fatigue and headache, dizziness, and nausea. The side effects of acupuncture treatment include dizziness, drowsiness, pain on the site of the needle penetration, bleeding on the treatment site, worsening of the pre-existing symptoms as well as feeling sick.
Interactions with Conventional Medicines
Acupuncture has been shown to interact with conventional medications by lowering the effective dose of stimulation among drugs (Lin et al., 2018). Chiropractic treatment has been shown to interact with anti-inflammatory supplements. Patients diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, varicose veins, or expectant women need to avoid acupressure to prevent adverse events.
Price of the Treatment, Sessions Recommended, a Comparison of the Prices between the 2 Different Locations
Cleveland Clinic offers chiropractic services. The prices range from 40$ to 300$. Some health plans cover the costs of chiropractic practice. Patients are recommended to go through twelve sessions especially those with chronic back pain. The second health facility offering chiropractic services is San Francisco Chiropractic Services. The facility charges based on the types of services provided. PPO insurance is also accepted in the facility.
Patient Education Regarding the Therapies
Patient education regarding complementary and alternative medicine is of paramount importance to facilitate the making of informed and safe choices. It is vital to acknowledge that patients should demonstrate patient autonomy based on adequate health literacy alongside personal beliefs and attitudes. Patient education is similarly important to caution patients about the safety and possible contradictions among the CAM as well as to provide information about the evidence on what the medicine or therapy is claimed to manage.
Education Level and Credentials of Practitioners Offering Treatment
Acupuncturists require to have a master’s degree as well as licensure and certification for individual states. They are certified by the Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Chiropractors must have a doctor of Chiropractic degree as well as earn a state license for them to practice. Practitioners seeking to pursue acupressure must pass both national and state exams.
