The Role of Nurse Managers and Nurse Leaders in Reengineering Health Care
Reengineering in health care is meant to improve the quality of care provided to patients and their families. Nurse leaders and managers can contribute to the reengineering of health care by managing community and health plan partnerships, as well as, integrating overlapping delivery system functions among participating vendors and providers (Alrobai, 2020). The third one is redesigning clinical services, administrative functions, and caregiving programs. Nurse managers and nurse leaders contribute to the reengineering of healthcare by coordinating care provided to patients and promoting collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
Nurse nurses perform most of the jobs in a healthcare setting. They spend most of their time with patients than other health care providers. Therefore, nurses are in the best position to offer an immense contribution to the reengineering of health care (Sherman, 2019). Nurse leaders and nurse managers determine risk analysis resources and strategies required to ensure more effective patient care. Nursing leaders rely on evidence-based practice and performance data to enhance the provision of quality health care and more positive patient outcomes.
Nurse managers and nurse leaders shape the direction of health care and how it is provided. Nurse leaders and managers are both mentors and educators. They also act as supervisors and advisers to the junior nurses (Freihat, 2020). They train and inform nurses on new healthcare procedures and policies, both at the national and organizational levels. Therefore, there are several ways nurse leaders and managers can help in enhancing the reengineering of health care.
