Competency
Compare techniques for presenting scholarly work in the field of nursing.
Scenario
You recently participated in data collection for an original research study at your healthcare organization. The research team included physicians, physical therapists, nurses, and pharmacists. The purpose of the research was to examine a variety of strategies to prevent readmissions of complex care clients. The research team plans to present the findings of the scholarly work nationally but is unsure of the best strategy for dissemination. You decide to create a document comparing written, visual, and verbal techniques for presenting scholarly work to help the team choose the most appropriate strategy.

o Describes strategies for the presentation of scholarly work in an audio context including examples and credible sources.
o Explains the strategy you consider most appropriate for presentation of this type of scholarly work, supporting your choice with rationales and credible sources.
o States ideas with professional language and attribution for credible sources, along with correct APA citation, spelling, and grammar in the document.

Strategies for Presentation of Scholarly Work in Nursing
Research evidence becomes useful when it is able to reach the target audience who later utilize it to improve patient outcomes. In this respect, researchers should use appropriate methods to communicate and disseminate research findings to enhance understanding and use by the target audience (Brownson et al., 2018). Research that is conducted at the organizational level to examine a variety of strategies to prevent readmissions of complex care clients can also be applied by healthcare providers nationally provided it meets the requirements for external validity. Researchers can use written, visual, and verbal techniques to present the findings of such a study to enhance their access to as many stakeholders as possible (Varallyay et al., 2022). The purpose of this assignment is to compare written, visual, and verbal strategies for presenting or disseminating scholarly work.
Presentation Strategies in a Written Context
Researchers can use numerous strategies to present scholarly work in a written context. Examples of strategies that are commonly used by health researchers include peer-reviewed journals and brochures. Peer-reviewed journals provide a good platform for presenting and disseminating the outcomes of a study (Varallyay et al., 2022). Although the two strategies can be used to present the same types of information in a written context, the information contained in peer-reviewed journals is usually more detailed when compared to the contents of a brochure. However, both approaches allow the researcher to describe the purpose of a given research, the specific problem that a study is meant to address, the target audience, data collection methods, research findings, and implications of such findings to clinical practice. Peer-reviewed journals and brochures are advantageous in that they create a platform where the researchers can describe key concepts of a particular research thereby enabling the audience to understand the purpose and outcomes of a study (Varallyay et al., 2022). Again, peer-reviewed journals and brochures are accessible to stakeholders in different locations. Articles that are published in a journal can be located online from different locations. However, brochures can be shared with stakeholders either physically on electronically.
Presentation Strategies in a Visual Context
Some researchers prefer visual dissemination strategies to written approaches to communicating research evidence. Visual presentation strategies are appropriate for contexts where the audience has limited time to review the contents of detailed journals and brochures (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, 2022). The commonly used strategies for presenting scholarly work in a visual context include PowerPoint Presentations and poster presentations. When using these approaches, it is advisable that researchers present precise and clear information related to their research. Like in peer-reviewed journals and brochures, research-related information that is disseminated visually through PowerPoint presentations and poster presentations should summarize key concepts about particular research. The information should be presented in a manner that allows the audience to understand the purpose of a given research, the specific problem that a study is meant to address, the target audience, data collection methods, research findings, and implications of such findings to clinical practice. The primary advantage of using PowerPoint and poster presentations as virtual communication techniques is that they are effective for displaying data or findings that are best summarized using graphs, charts, and tables. However, they are best suited for the easily accessible audiences (Population Research Institute, 2022). An alternative visual strategy that can help researchers to reach audiences at the national level is holding virtual meetings with stakeholders.
Presentation Strategies in an Audio Context
Certain circumstances might require researchers to utilize strategies that only enable them to disseminate information in an audio format. Health researchers often use a number of strategies to communicate the findings of their studies in an audio context. Examples of such strategies include podcasts and voice-over presentations that do not include visuals (Strickland et al., 2021). Audio-based strategies are advantageous in that they take a shorter time to present than the other strategies. Again, they can be used to reach a large audience when posted on the right platforms (Ekambaram et al., 2021). It is however important to note that although podcasts can be used to communicate key research findings, they are usually less detailed when compared to peer-reviewed journals, brochures, PowerPoint Presentations, and Poster Presentations.
The Most Preferred Strategy
The strategy that is considered the most appropriate for the presentation of findings obtained from the named research is an article published in a peer-reviewed journal. Many healthcare organizations struggle to contain costs even as they strive to provide quality and safe care to patients. Rising readmission rates are among those factors that impact negatively on healthcare costs. Such facilities will benefit greatly from research findings that describe the strategies to prevent readmissions of complex care clients (Pugh et al., 2021). Publishing the evidence in a peer-reviewed journal will enable the research team to reach audiences located in different places around the country.
Conclusion
Health researchers should engage in a data collection process with the aim of disseminating results to the target audience for implementation. The nature of research and the type of audience being targeted have an influence on the dissemination strategy to be used to present findings. Dissemination strategies used in a written context, specifically a peer-reviewed journal article, are the most appropriate for presenting the named scholarly work.
