Older Adult Interview and Power Point
For this assignment, interview an older adult (65 and older) and ask the person to discuss in depth with you the developmental stage they are at in their life. (Refer to Erikson’s developmental stages) For the purpose of this assignment, we will be using Erikson’s 8th stage of development–Integrity vs Despair
1. What were some important episodes/events that they recall from this stage? What was important about them? What issue were they working on? How did they feel during these stages of life?
2. In general?
3. About themselves?
4. About others around them?
5. About their environment? (Think about it from an ecological perspective)
6. What did they want most during these stages? What were some difficult challenges and proud accomplishments of key phases? What were external/internal resources that made it possible/impossible to achieve goals? How did family, groups, culture, communities, and organizations help or hinder the person in fulfilling aspirations? What contributions has this person made to society in their own view?
Once interview is complete, put together a power point presentation (using the power point slide examples) utilizing information from interview and Erikson’s 8th stage of development. One slide should contain an additional theoretical perspective that relates to interviewees life
