1. Beyond dissemination in the course, outline your plan for the dissemination of your DPI Project. In anticipation of uploading it to ProQuest, include the second page (copyright page)? Why is this page important?
2. Outline the process of the final manuscript submission. Where does it go? When does it get returned? How many iterations are you afforded?
Iteration
Upload your AQR Revisions of Chapters 1-5 so the reviewer can determine if they are complete. All learners are expected to have made 100% of the changes requested.
Initial Learner Self-Review and Soft Submission
In earlier assignments in this course, learners completed and submitted individual components of the Direct Practice Improvement (DPI) Project Proposal and received and incorporated feedback from the DPI Chair and Project Committee. At this point in the course, learners should have a working draft of the DPI Project Proposal (Chapters 1-5 and Appendix A,B,C,D).
For this assignment, learners will submit the working draft soft submission in preparation for the submission of Benchmark – DPI Project Proposal: Draft Proposal (Chapters 1-5 and Appendix A,B,C,D).
The document will be submitted as one unit.
After the chapters are combined and the document is formatted in accordance with the \”\”DPI Project Manuscript Template\” the learner will complete a self-review of work-to-date
This is a practice submission for department review.
DPI Project Manuscript Submission – Department Review
Assessment Description
In this topic, learners will analyze and incorporate all remaining DPI Committee feedback from the project review and defense process into their completed DPI Project and submit the DPI Project manuscript to the Department.
General Requirements:
Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:
• Remember to use the appropriate forms and templates (if required) for completing this assignment. These are available on the DNP PI Workspace of the DC Network.
• Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center.
• This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
• You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. A link to the LopesWrite technical support articles is located in Class Resources if you need assistance.
Directions: DPI Project Manuscript Submission – Department Review
You will submit your final committee-approved manuscript for departmental review. You must submit to the dropbox and to the department. If the manuscript is not ready for Dean Review, you will have the opportunity for iteration with the department. If your manuscript is not deemed ready to be sent to the dean by the department after the iteration, you will be advised to take an extension course to continue to work with your chairperson.
Submission of the completed DPI Project Manuscript Submission – Department Review is the required deliverable to progress through the DPI Project implementation and completion phases. Some helpful tips for ensuring successful completion of the DPI Project include:
1. Confirm that your project meets the GCU DPI requirement that it translates existing knowledge or guidelines into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.
2. Confirm that your clinical questions align with your method, design, data collection/tools, and data analysis.
3. Accurate grammar, APA style, and scholarly writing are required. Please note that being an editor is not the role of your chair or AQR reviewers. Manuscripts that do not follow APA guidelines/scholarly writing will immediately be sent back to the learner.
4. Remember that your manuscript will undergo several reviews from your chairperson, content expert, AQRs, department chair, and dean that will require multiple iterations. Please be open to feedback and incorporate the feedback into your manuscript to improve the quality and rigor of your DPI Project.
In addition to submitting your manuscript to the dropbox, you are also required to submit a copy to the following email address: DPIproject@gcu.edu and a copy to your chair on the submission. Submission to both portals is required to successfully complete this assignment. You are not eligible to submit to the Department until you have undergone AQR for Chapters 1-5.
Discussion 7
The only way that people who are interested in the outcomes of a project can get to know about the results is through dissemination by the investigators. Evidence derived from quality improvement projects should inform clinical decisions and improve patient practice. Therefore, it is important to disseminate the project’s findings so that it can reach stakeholders who can utilize it to change the way healthcare is delivered (Curtis et al., 2017; Department of Health and Human Services, 2018). Nurses in their DNP programs are required to disseminate the results of their quality improvement projects to both internal and external stakeholders (McVay et al., 2016). The purpose of this discussion is to describe a plan for the dissemination of your DPI Project. The author will further discuss the importance of the copyright page of the manuscript including the process of the final manuscript submission.
Beyond dissemination in the course, the primary investigator will also disseminate the DPI project’s findings by publishing the final document to nursing journals. Ross et al. (2018) have acknowledged that publishing in a journal is one of the approaches that today’s investigators are using to disseminate findings from scientific studies to the public. Published peer-reviewed journals are usually organized into databases where other researchers, policymakers, and healthcare professionals can easily access them (Oermann et al., 2021). After publishing my project in a nursing journal, the primary investigator will also upload it to ProQuest for easy access by other interest groups. Prior to uploading to ProQuest, the primary investigator will include the copyright page and ensure that it clearly describes the author of the manuscript. Including the copyright page during publication helps the author to retain ownership and be acknowledged as the original publisher.
Nurses in their DNP programs are expected to follow the correct procedure when submitting their final manuscripts for submission. The initial step that the primary investigator will follow in the process is to submit the manuscript for departmental review. The primary investigator must submit to the department and to dropbox. The departmental review will give the primary investigator an opportunity for iteration with the department. Department Review is necessary before the primary investigator can be allowed to proceed to the project implementation and completion phases. Following departmental review, the department will forward the manuscript to the dean for review. In addition to submitting your manuscript to dropbox, the primary investigator is also required to submit a copy to DPIproject@gcu.edu and another copy to his or her chair on the submission. The manuscript is eligible for final submission to the Department only after it has undergone AQR for Chapters 1-5.
The manuscript will get returned immediately it has passed all the required review stages. However, it can also be returned along the way for iteration when it does not meet requirements. The primary investigator has afforded five iterations since the initial submission of the manuscript for review. These iterations have provided opportunities for improving the manuscript to what it is today. The manuscript is now ready for final submission.
