Assignment: Final Project: Mitigation Plan, Part 2

Assignment: Final Project: Mitigation Plan, Part 2

In Part 1 of your Final Project: Mitigation Plan, you selected a topic for mitigation and a developmental age group on which to focus. You also researched articles to help you identify diversity factors related to the relationship between your topic and age group. Now that you have a foundation in place, you can expand on your topic by researching the benefits and drawbacks of digital technology and its impact on the topic and group on which you are focusing.

For this week, you will begin your work in Part 2 of your Final Project: Mitigation Plan. You will continue developing Part 2 in Weeks 4, 5, and 6, before you submit for instructor feedback.

To Prepare this Part 2 Final Project Assignment:

  • Consider at least two benefits and two drawbacks of digital technology related to the topic problem and group you selected
  • Search the Internet and the Walden library for articles that focus on the benefits and drawbacks of digital technology related to the topic problem and the developmental group that you selected

For this Final Project: Mitigation Plan, Part 2 Assignment:

Write a 2- to 3-page paper (not including title page and references) in which you:

  • Explain two benefits of the digital technology related to the topic problem you selected and why you believe these to be beneficial for the group you selected.
  • Explain two drawbacks or limitations of the digital technology related to the topic problem you selected and why you believe these to be risks for the group you selected.

Use your Learning Resources and the articles you found in your search to support your findings. Use proper APA format and citations.

Mitigation Plan for Obesity

Obesity is the topic that I have chosen for mitigation. I have decided on this topic because it is a global health issues. The United States is one of the countries that is mostly affected by obesity, and there are a lot of other health-related problems associated with obesity. Some contributing factors of obesity are diverse which makes it to be an interesting topic to look at. Obesity is an illness that a person has an irregular accumulation of fat which impairs the health of the individual. Obese people in the society are sometimes discriminated against is another reason that made me choose the topic.

There is a rise in childhood obesity rates. The proportion of obese children is gradually rising which it takes to be an essential aspect to be looked upon. Childhood obesity apparently interferes with the development progress of the child (Kamijo, 2014). Obesity increases the risk for the development of a variety of diseases. I also chose obesity in childhood because it may make more accessible to control obesity at this age as compared to adults.

Modern technology such as the internet and video games are partly the cause of childhood obesity. One of the fundamental factors of childhood obesity is environmental factors. The internet is a contributor to childhood obesity as it hinders participation of physical activities of the child since one spends most of his/her time on the internet. Minimal engagement in physical activities such as walking leads to the child becoming obese. The internet, therefore, can be one of the contributing factors of obesity.

In conclusion, this paper will attempt to consider the effects that obesity has hindered the development of children who are obese, and adults who struggle with the condition of obesity.
