Competency Description: Anyone at any level can advocate for and make positive changes to advance health equity. Simple acts of working within your organization or community can have a huge impact on the health and well-being of others. For example, developing a diverse workforce to reflect the community around us and better care for our diverse patient population can advance health equity. Many feel the way to do this is from the bottom up by ensuring we diversify nursing schools’ faculty and students through education. For this Performance Task Assessment, you will construct a 2- to 3-page paper in which you explore the political and civic engagement of a professional nursing organization.
