Professional Goals
Walden University is an accredited institution that provides a quality, engaging learning experience for working professionals. The mission and vision of Walden University reflect what I believed in but could not describe by words. Walden University envisions a type of learning where knowledge is judged worthy to the degree that it can be applied by graduates to solve societal problems (Walden University, 2021). Its mission is to provide careers with the opportunity to transform themselves and affect positive social change. These important statements resonate with my professional and academic goals, which are to gain more knowledge and skills that I can apply at the workplace to meet the needs of the community.
Walden University defines positive social change as “a deliberate process of creating and applying ideas, strategies, and actions to promote the worth, dignity, and development of individuals, communities, organizations, institutions, cultures, and societies’ (Walden University, 2021). I want my career and profession to impact a positive change in those around me. I plan to deliberately incorporate knowledge gained from Walden to positively impact the organization and the entire community. For instance, I will apply the ideas, knowledge, and strategies to transform care delivery at the organizational and national levels to improve the lives of everyone in society.
Walden MSN program learning outcomes and perspectives also resonate with my academic and professional goals. One of the Walden MSN program learning outcomes is to implement specialist nursing roles to promote quality improvement of patient-centered care as well as transform healthcare outcomes for diverse populations (Walden University, 2021). I plan to improve the quality of nursing care by applying evidence-based practice. I also believe that research will enable me to come up with innovations to improve the quality of care. All these efforts are meant to improve health outcomes for diverse populations.
