Using Frameworks in Social Work
There are different frameworks in social work, that can be utilized to support clients. A biopsychosocial approach considers the biological, psychological, and social levels of a person when treating them (Rogers, 2019). The biological level allows the provider to look at the client’s physical health and functioning. The psychological level involves clients’ emotional and cognitive wellbeing. The social level assesses family issues, social activities, and dynamics. Person in environment approach is the second framework. It describes human behavior and problems in relation to their interaction with the environment (Rogers, 2019). Theories and perspectives in this framework focus on client’s systems, that when considered together functions as an integrated whole. When dealing with a patient, the framework considered the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. The third framework is trauma-informed care. It is about creating an environmental system to support the resilient to overcome adversity (AIR, 2014). Its main objective is to reduce trauma and prevent recurrent by creating a friendly environment.
These three frameworks can be utilized to support clients such as Anita, Anthony, and Ashley. By using the biopsychosocial approach, a healthcare provider would consider psychological, social, and biological factors that contribute to the clients’ behaviors. Antony could be suffering from emotional or social problems (Rogers, 2019). Considering these three aspects of a person (biological, psychological, and social aspects) would help find a solution for these clients. Person in environment approach and trauma-informed care are both focused on one’s environment to improve behavior. Person in environment approach can help assess the client’s immediate environment and larger social environment that affect his functioning. Trauma-informed care will reduce the traumatic situations and experiences that Antony, Ashley, and Anita might be undergoing (AIR, 2014). It can help teachers organize a safer environment for Antony to improve his attitude towards learning. Therefore, all these three frameworks can be beneficial to the clients mentioned in the presented case study.
