Subject: Enhancing cyber security in the aviation industry
Please answer the following four questions.
1. What types of measures (e.g., tests, questionnaires, interview schedules, or personality scales) do you plan to use in your research? Please describe.
2. Do you anticipate that your measure(s) have high face validity? Explain.
3. Will you be evaluating the empirical validity of the measures you will be using in your research? Explain. (Note that if you use a published measure, information on empirical validity may already be available in the manual for the measure or in a research report in which the measure was used.)
4. Will you be evaluating the reliability of any measures you will be using in your research? Explain. (Note that reliability will be considered in more detail in the next topic.)

Subject: Enhancing cyber security in the aviation industry
- What types of measures (e.g., tests, questionnaires, interview schedules, or personality scales) do you plan to use in your research? Please describe.
Since this study will rely mostly on secondary data, it is a possibility that no measure will be required. The data obtained will be in numerical figures such as the number of reported cases of cybercrimes between 2011 to 2021 on annual basis, the associated financial losses, cost per breach, future projections, and so on. Such information needs no such measures to obtain, though questionnaires and interview schedules can be considered as primary sources of information to confirm and reinforce the secondary data.
- Do you anticipate that your measure(s) have high face validity? Explain.
High face validity means a high level of agreement among raters (Zack, 2021). Though the study will not rely on primary data, questionnaires and interview schedules will generate a high face validity because most stakeholders in the aviation sector will possibly agree that cyber threats are real problems in the industry due to the ever-growing technological advancements.
- Will you be evaluating the empirical validity of the measures you will be using in your research? Explain. (Note that if you use a published measure, information on empirical validity may already be available in the manual for the measure or in a research report in which the measure was used.)
This study will not evaluate the empirical validity of the measure because the primary source of data will be the secondary source available. In case, it will consider the questionnaires and interviews, they will just be used to attest to the trends observed in the secondary data. As such, only the secondary data obtained will be evaluated.
- Will you be evaluating the reliability of any measures you will be using in your research? Explain. (Note that reliability will be considered in more detail in the next topic.)
, the reliability of the measures will not be evaluated because the study does not rely on primary data but on secondary data. The analysis will consider the secondary data obtained only.
